Town Council budget and precept 2025-26

The Town Council has approved a budget for 2025/26 and the amount you pay to the Town Council is going down (but only a little bit).

The Town Council also determined its portion of the Council tax for next year and has yet again frozen its part of the Council tax bills. The total amount of the precept (money from Council tax) will be £75,000 and represents about 35p per week per household (at band D).  The amount paid per household is a slight reduction from the current financial year (about 2 pence per week).  Unfortunately the amount we pay to “North Northamptonshire Council” and to the “Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner” looks likely to increase significantly.

The amount you will pay in Council tax to the Town Council depends on your property’s banding and estimates are shown below.  Please remember this is the total ANNUAL amount you will pay towards the Town Council (the exact figure will be shown in your Council tax bill to be issued by North Northamptonshire Council).

North Northamptonshire Council

North Northamptonshire Council is proposing an increase in the amount of Council tax paid to it of 4.99%, which includes the 2% adult social care precept.  Details of the consultation of North Northamptonshire Council’s budget are here https://northnorthants.citizenspace.com/cet/budget-2025-26/

This increase would represent a Band D level of Council Tax for North Northamptonshire Council of £1,827.06 for 2025/2026. This is an annual increase of £86.84 (equivalent to £1.67 per week) from the Band D Council Tax level set in 2024/2025.

Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner

Details from the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner’s website show a likely an increase of at least £15 for a Band D, and Fire an increase of £5 for a Band D, to deliver the priorities outlined in the draft public safety plan for the county and maintain police officer and firefighter numbers. https://northantspfcc.org.uk/consultation-news-release/
