Concerns about pedestrian safety in the vicinity of the zebra crossing on High Street prompted the Town Council to set aside money to provide bollards and railings either side of the crossing to prevent pedestrians walking into the road and to stop vehicles parking on the footpath in the crossing’s zig-zagged lined area.
The Proposed Road Safety Measures to High Street were approved and a £7,709.22 grant was made to Northamptonshire Highways which carried out the work in January 2022.
