Messages of Condolences to the Royal Family

The official Royal Family book of condolence is available online.  You can send a message of condolence at Royal.uk/send-message-condolence.  If you need help or do not have access to the internet you can send your message for free from Desborough Library.

In Desborough

A book of condolence is available in Desborough Library. It is available for anyone to pay their respects.

Opening times:

  • Tuesday – 9:30am to 4pm
  • Wednesday – 9:30am to 4pm
  • Thursday – 9am to 5pm
  • Friday – 10am to 5pm
  • Saturday – 11am to 1pm

The book of condolence will be closed on 24 September 2022.

Once closed, the book of condolence will form part of the county archive so that future generations are able to easily gain access to them and find out the way in which this important national event was marked.

In larger towns

From Friday 9 September books of condolence will be opened in North Northamptonshire Council’s main office buildings to mark the sad news. These will be available for everyone to pay their respects.

Books of condolence will be located at the following locations:

  • Corby: Main Reception, The Cube, Corby, NN17 1QG
  • Kettering: Council Chamber, Bowling Green Road, Kettering, NN15 7QX
  • Thrapston: Main Reception, Cedar Drive, Thrapston, NN14 4LZ
  • Wellingborough: Main Reception, Swanspool House, Doddington Road, Wellingborough, NN8 1BP

Kettering’s Council Chamber will be accessible from Bowling Green Road.

Opening times:

  • Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 6pm
  • Saturday – 9am to 5pm
  • Sunday – 9am to 5pm

Please be aware that during peak periods there may be queues.

Closing the books of condolence

The books of condolence will be closed on the day after the Queen’s funeral.

Once closed, the books of condolence will form part of North Northamptonshire Council’s archive so that future generations are able to easily gain access to them and find out the way in which this important national event was marked.
